Peels & Fillers
Facial Peels
A skin peel is used to smooth and soften the appearance of skin by removing old and dead skin enabling the healthy layers to breathe. The two most common peels are chemical and laser resurfacing.
A chemical peel is a treatment that chemically exfoliates the skins top layer to reveal the softer and healthier skin below. They can also be used to treat a variety of skin conditions. These include sun damaged/hyper-pigmented, acne prone and even sensitive types. In many cases, wrinkles caused by sun damage, ageing and heredity can be reduced and even eliminated through a series of chemical peels. This type of peel can increase the skins tolerance to external factors and control acne. Light peels require no recovery time although there may be some pinkness. Deeper peels may result in peeling/crusting and will have redness for 7 to 10 days.
Laser resurfacing surgery is performed with a "super pulsed" carbon dioxide laser to minimise wrinkles and lines on the face. Laser surgery involves a specialised beam of light energy which is absorbed by the skin and surrounding tissues and minimises lines or makes precise surgical incisions. In laser surfacing, lines on the face can be significantly improved. This procedure is performed under sedation with local anaesthesia. Redness may persist for several weeks and makeup can usually be applied in 7 to 10 days.
Fillers
Fillers are often used in conjunction with Botox to reduce the appearance of lines, wrinkles and creases disappear. Fillers can also be used to add volume and plump lips for a fuller effect.
The thickness of the filler will depend on the area to be treated. Frown lines will be treated with a thin filler while cheeks, chins and lips will be reserved for thicker deeper fillers. Absorbable temporary fillers are medically recognised as a safer option to permanent as the filler is gradually broken down by the body.
The procedure takes 10-20 minutes and the result is instant. The treatment lasts on average for 9 months. There maybe some swelling or bruising after the injections but make up can be applied straight away.
