Botox

Botox

Botox is the UK’s number 1 injection treatment for facial lines and wrinkles. It is a simple non surgical treatment that can temporary smooth the signs of aging or frown lines. Botox can be used to treat frown lines, forehead furrows, lip lines from smoking, crows feet around the eyes, and dimple chins. Botox works by reducing the muscle contractions that cause persistent and unwanted lines. The blocking of this muscle transmission causes the lines to diminish or disappear. The effects are not permanent because the nerves will grow new connectors allowing the muscle activity to return.

The injection of Botox can only take up to 10 minutes but will last up to 6 months. The diminishing of lines and wrinkles will appear in 3-5 days after each injection and the final effect can be seen after 2 weeks. For medical purposes it can also be injected into the underarms, hands and feet to reduce sweating and also in severe cases of migraine.

Lip Enhancement

Lip enhancement is a procedure which uses synthetic or biological products or surgical reconstruction to create fuller plumper lips, and reduces lines around the mouth. This type of treatment is for patients whose lips are small, deflated, asymmetric, lack of colour, sagging, lack of colour or wrinkling from smoking or aging.

A natural or synthetic material or the patients own fat is injected or implanted in the lips. One injection is usually sufficient but this may need to be repeated periodically. Lip implants involve making 4 incisions at each corner of the mouth, the surgeon inserts the implants then cuts them to size most suited to the patient. The incision areas are then sutured with a thin dissolving material. The surgery can take up to 1 hour.

Patients will be sore and swollen after surgery. There may be numbness for several days after surgery which can make it difficult to eat and drink. It can take up to one week for the swelling to subside. Bruising is usually minimal.
