Abdominoplasty – Tummy Tuck

A protruding abdomen is a result of weak abdominal muscles and excess skin. This can result from pregnancy, weight loss, and ageing. The operation is designed to address both the loose muscles and excess skin. The best candidates are those that have fatty deposits and loose abdominal skin which do not respond to diet or exercise. A mini tummy tuck may be recommended if the fatty deposits and excess skin are minor and located beneath the navel. Liposuction may also be performed to help create a better contour.

The surgeon will make an incision across the lower abdomen above the pubic area.  A second incision is sometimes performed around the belly button to free it from the surrounding tissue.  Through these incisions the excess skin is removed and abdominal muscles tightened. This tightening usually results in a reduced waistline.

The incisions will be closed with dissolvable stitches and a sticky gauze placed over the area. Following surgery expect to feel discomfort and soreness with swelling and bruising over the incision line. This can be easily controlled by pain killers. A pressure garment must be worn for at least 6 weeks to support the abdominal muscles and operated skin. Recovery can take up to 3 weeks and the final result seen after 3 months.

Arm & Thigh Lift

The natural aging process can cause skin to lose its elasticity and cause the layers of muscle and fat to become thinner. Loose skin is also common amongst those who have recently lost weight.  This can have a sagging effect on the arms and thighs. The procedure of arm and thigh lift is an operation to reduce the amount of loose skin in these areas.

For an arm lift, incisions are made along the inner and under surfaces of the arm. These can range from the armpit to sometimes as low as the elbow. For the thigh lift, the incision is along the inner thigh area from the groin to the inner knee. The excess skin and fat is removed and the remaining skin tightened.

Dissolvable stitches and padded bandages are applied to the operated areas which should be kept on for 2 weeks. Bruising and swelling will occur along the incision tracks. Recovery may take up to 4 weeks and scars will be more visible early on but improvement can be noticed after 6 months.

Body Lift

This procedure is frequently used after a massive weight loss and can be carried out on a number of areas of the body. Massive weight loss can cause skin wrinkling and a loss of tone throughout the body creating a sagging appearance. This procedure will target areas such as stomach, breast, arms, back and thighs which has excess skin and fat tissue

This surgery is tailored to the patients’ individual appearance and needs. The surgery can be carried out in 2 stages. The first stage will remove skin and fat from the buttocks, hips, back and thighs. A tummy tuck is performed during the second stage. Incisions are carefully placed around the underwear mark so they can be hidden easily.

All stitches used are dissolvable and a pressure garment must be worn for up to 6 weeks. Scars will develop from the incisions but will normally fade substantially from 6 – 12 months.

Buttock Implant

A flat or un-shapely buttock can be enhanced by using buttock implants. The buttock can be enlarged, lifted or shaped by choosing from a variety of different size implants.

Each buttock is placed through an incision over the tailbone. The buttock muscle is lifted up and a pocket is made for the implant. Both sides are made to look natural and symmetrical. The incisions are closed using fine dissolvable stitches.

Following the operation some light dressing must be worn 2 weeks and a full recovery can take up to 4 weeks.
