Edna Cobbing, 61, from Essex, wanted to live her life to the full and decided to have a body makeover and start her new life in Malta.
I’d been on my own for nine years since my husband Allen died after a long battle with cancer. Before he went he made me promise to live life to the full. However, I didn’t have much confidence and at 50 I felt much older. My daughter, Sharron, knew of a company that specialised in helping people seek cosmetic surgery abroad. I did my research and got in touch with the Director Jenny Fowler. She explained that more and more people were going abroad for surgery because of the high quality and low cost that was available. She helped me choose the right country and recommended a surgeon that specialised in tummy tucks. In a few months time I would be moving to Malta for a new life in the sun and I wanted to be confident on the beach and wear light summer clothing without feeling conscious about my body. The surgeon quoted £2850 for the tummy tuck and two areas of liposuction. This price meant I save over £3000 than if I had it done in the UK.
I felt confident and happy that I was doing the right thing especially when Jenny introduced me to other women that had recently had tummy tucks. Many of them said it was a life changing experience for them. The following month I flew out with a group of woman to have the surgery. I was very nervous to begin with but when I met the surgeon all those unnerving feelings went away. Jenny and her team had already prepared me for the surgery so I knew all the facts but meeting the surgeon and seeing how professional his staff and operating theatres were really put my mind at ease. After 3 hours of surgery I woke feeling sore and bruised but surprisingly not in too much pain. After 4 days of resting I began to visit the other women that had had the same surgery. We all decided to get dressed and go have a light dinner at the hotel restaurant. Being with the other women really helped my recovery period. It was a great atmosphere and we are still in touch to this day.
When I returned home, Sharron said I looked fantastic and could tell a difference in my appearance already. Now a few months after the tummy tuck I am a changed woman. It’s given me so much more confidence and I even splashed out on a new wardrobe. Now I’m going to live life to the full, just like Allen would have wanted.
